North Korean Leader Urges Military to Consider South Korea a Hostile Adversary
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un instructed the military to treat South Korea as an enemy state and promised its people that his nation will retaliate if its sovereignty is infringed upon. The declaration has been made before Kim Jong Un's planned visit to the headquarters of North's 2nd Corps of the People's Army, according to state media on October 18, 2024.

Constitutional Amendments and Infrastructure Demolitions
Recently, North Korea amended its constitution to declare South Korea "a hostile state" and blew up several key road and rail connections that once united the two nations. Analysts see these moves as Kim's straightforward intent-to increase tensions and strengthen North Korea's hand after a diplomatic stalemate.
Military Action Justification
He said that any attack on South Korea would be seen as a justifiable action in response to aggression and not an attack against compatriots. He added that destroying transportation links was a crucial step toward ending, what he called "evil" relations with the South since he opposed reunification and the concept of South Koreans being fellow-countrymen.
Current Provocations and Threats
North Korea has in the last few weeks heightened threats to South Korea, apparently accusing this country of deploying drones whose jobs are believed to be anti-North propaganda distribution. South Korea has remained tight-lipped regarding such drone operations but warned that the country would unleash full military force in case its citizens were threatened.
