MP Govt Announces ₹1 Cr Reward to Vivek Sagar for Bronze Win

The Madhya Pradesh government on Friday announced a reward of Rs 1 crore to hockey player Vivek Sagar Prasad, who was part of the Indian men's team that won a bronze medal in the Paris Olympics. India won its second consecutive bronze medal in the Olympics by beating Spain 2-1 for the first time in 52 years on Thursday. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav congratulated Prasad, who hails from Madhya Pradesh. Indian Hockey Team  In a telephonic conversation with the player, Yadav said, "It was a good performance. The entire nation is happy with all of you. Congratulations to you and the entire team for this success. The Madhya Pradesh government will transfer Rs 1 crore to your account as a reward." "You are working as an honourable deputy superintendent of police (DSP), and now the state will reward you with Rs 1 crore," he said. A native of Itarsi in Narmadapuram district, Prasad was also part of the Olympics 2020 (Tokyo) hockey team that clinched the bronze medal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Neeraj Chopra after the Indian athlete won the silver medal in the men’s javelin event in Paris Olympics 2024. On Thursday (August 8), Neeraj threw 89.45 metres at Stade de France in France and delivered his season’s best performance, but it was not enough for him to fetch gold. Neeraj Chopra  Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal with a best throw of 92.97 metres while Grenada’s Anderson Peters bagged bronze with a throw of 88.54 metres. After the athletics event, PM Modi reached out to Neeraj and congratulated him for bringing home the silver medal. The PM also asked Neeraj about his adductor niggle that had been troubling him in the lead-up to the quadrennial event in Paris. UP cops to seek court nod for DNA test of Ayodhya gangrape accused

The police have started the paperwork to be submitted to court for a DNA test of the accused in the gangrape of a 12-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya. The police will conduct the DNA test of the accused Moin Khan and Raju Khan after getting permission from court. Court to Approve DNA Test for Rape Case On July 30, the Ayodhya Police arrested Samajwadi Party functionary Moin Khan, who runs a bakery, along with his employee Raju Khan for allegedly gang-raping and impregnating the minor, who was an employee at Khan's bakery. A sample of the womb of the rape survivor admitted for treatment at King George's Medical University (KGMU) was also kept. Manish Sisodia was granted bail by the Supreme Court Friday morning - nearly 18 months after the ex-Delhi Deputy Chief Minister was arrested by the CBI in the alleged liquor policy case. In a powerful verdict the court said he is entitled to a "speedy trial" and that a rejection now would force him to work his way back up the system. Owner arrested after dog falls from building, kills 3-year-old girl in Thane

The Thane Police has arrested the owner of a pet dog which fell from the fifth floor of a building, killing a girl on the spot on August 6, 2024. Dog Fall Tragedy: Owner Arrested The arrested man was identified as 24-year-old Jaher Sayyed. A First Information Report (FIR) was filed in this regard, two days after the three-year-old girl died. According to the police, the dog was tied to the terrace of the building and fell in an attempt to free itself. It fell onto the street, hitting the minor girl. She was rushed to a hospital but died during treatment. Meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) (SP) leader, Jitendra Awhad, alleged the dog was thrown from the building. He also claimed the minor girl's family was being threatened against reporting the case to the police. As Awhad accompanied the family to the police station, he urged the police to add three more names to the existing FIR in the case. The names and identities of the other accused were not disclosed by the police.

Sheikh Hasina Hasina fled to India on Monday after weeks of deadly protests forced her to quit. A caretaker government led by Nobel Peace laureate Muhammad Yunus was sworn in on Thursday, which will be tasked with holding elections. Speaking to the Times of India, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, who is based in the US, said, "For the time being, she (Hasina) is in India.
